One of the most common questions we get here at Mulchpedia is “how many bags of mulch are on a pallet?”. The answer, of course, depends on the size of the bag and the type of mulch. We’ve put together a quick guide to help you determine how many bags of mulch you’ll need for your next project.
Garden/playground mulch is usually sold in 2-cubic-foot bags. A 2-cubic-foot bag will cover 4 square feet at a depth of 3 inches. A pallet of garden/playground mulch typically contains 60-65 bags.
Bulk mulch is usually sold in 3-cubic-foot bags. A 3-cubic-foot bag will cover 6 square feet at a depth of 3 inches. A pallet of bulk mulch typically contains 45-50 bags.
Shredded Hardwood Mulch
Shredded hardwood mulch is usually sold in 2-cubic-foot bags. A 2-cubic-foot bag will cover 8 square feet at a depth of 1 inch. A pallet of shredded hardwood mulch typically contains 60-65 bags. However, some shredded hardwood mulches are sold in 1 cubic foot sizes or even by the yard or by the ton, so be sure to ask before purchasing.
Now that you know all there is to know about this, it’s time to get out there and get landscaping! We hope this guide was helpful and we wish you luck on your next project!
